Roberto Sarotto Barbaresco Riserva DOCG 2013
Previous Next
''Soft, settled, balanced and refined Barbaresco, yet the amplitude of the vintage gives it a wealth and a richness of contour which will see it age effortlessly for at least another decade.'' 97 Points, and Best in Show Trophy, Decanter World Wine Awards
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Barbaresco, it's gracefully referred to as the Queen of Italian wines sitting alongside the equally revered Barolo. It's produced from the Piedmontese varietal Nebbiolo from a town almost 10Kms from Barolo and like Barolo itself, its uncommon to find a Barbaresco Riserva available for less than $100 bucks; and its even rarer if its a highly regarded and award winning wine. Now like most wines, the vintage is very important and its reassuring to know that one of the most influential Italian focused wine writers Antonio Galloni has given a ringing endorsement for the 2013.
"2013 is shaping up to be an epic vintage of classic proportions and superb pedigree. The 2013s remind me of the 2010s, but with more inner sweetness and mid-palate richness." Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
If your still unsure about this, than strap yourselves in, as this just took home the Most Coveted Trophy ''The Best Wine on Show'' at the Decanter World Wine Awards for 2018!!! Here is the accompanying review from Decanter Magazine:
''Light to medium garnet red with a hint of fawn. Graceful and expansive aromas , suggesting poised ripeness and ample ageing: soft cranberry and pomegranate, with some wild-mushroom and forest-copse richness. Soft, settled, balanced and refined Barbaresco, yet the amplitude of the vintage gives it a wealth and a richness of contour which will see it age effortlessly for at least another decade.'' 97 Points, and Best in Show Trophy, Decanter World Wine Awards
Its goes without saying, this Barbaresco Riserva 2013 will disappear in a flash, so if you love your Barbaresco's and you don't want to spend an extravagant amount on one; than this might be an optimum time to do it!
