98 Points & Best Red Luca Maroni Annual Italian Wine Awards 2019
This Red Blend made from 50% Primitivo and 50% Negroamaro has always been one of our favourite wines from Italy and the newest release is once again impeccable. In terms of style, it has an opulence, is full bodied, intense, fleshy and complex. It has an explosion of aromas including spices, licorice, prunes, cocoa, vanilla and ripe red and black berry fruits. It finishes smooth and long. Pure Puglia, the best of Iconic Puglian varietals Primitivo and Negroamaro. Perfect winter drinking!
We're not the only ones talking up this wine, it has recieved accolades and critical acclaim from the International wine media who've fallen head over heals. The trophy cabinent is full with 6 Gold Medals and as we pointed out earlier, it has been named one of Luca Maroni's Greatest Reds in his Annual Italian Guide, with a Rating of 98 points. Luca Maroni is Italy's equivalent of James Halliday or Jeremy Oliver. We should also point out it recently was awarded Best Wine from Puglia at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Awards. The judges wrote
"This features aromas of rich chocolate, vanilla and leather, with plenty of jammy notes too. Gentle tannins, well balanced freshness and acidity. Smoky finish. Delicious.'' 96 Points, Decanter Magazine
And from the International Wine & Spirits Competition, the judges said:
''Marvellous, ample and spicily ripe fruit aromas, eucalyptus and oak tones, unrestrained and powerful. Layers upon layers of rich flavours, cinnamon and nutmeg, coffee and tobacco all linked to perfection by a firm grip and dense texture. Big macho wine, packs a real punch from beginning to end. A Non Vintage made to go on and on...'' International Wine & Spirits Competition
