Rated 99 POINTS:  Luca Maroni

That's right, this wine scored 99 points in Luca Maroni's Best Italian Wines Annual.  Luca is one of Italy's most renowned wine critics – Italy's James Halliday or Jeremy Oliver if you like – and for the latest edition of his annual wine guide, over 11,000 wines were tasted.  The equal highest rated wine was this, the Amaranta Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2017 and we have it for $32.99.

''Look for aromas of cherries, with a nice spiciness of cinnamon on the finish. Juicy mouth-feel with savoury tannins,'' 95 Points, Luca Gardini

Gold Medal Winning Vintage 2017: New Zealand International Wine Show 2019

Aged 9/12 months in the French and American barriques, Amaranta is ruby red with garnet reflections; opulent fruit, the bouquet is intense, fruity, persistent, with notes of dried flowers, spice, licorice, marasca cherries. The palate is stylish, velvety, almost creamy. Complex, elegant, well balanced with a long aftertaste. Montepulciano D’Abruzzo. Very limited.
