L'Oratoire St Martin Cotes Du Rhone Cairanne Rouge 'Les Douyes' 2011

Incredible value! 9 years bottle age with a fruit source from vines planted in 1905 on the limestone rich site of Les Douyes, The wine is a mix of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre.

Perhaps surprisingly this wine sees no oak, such the the belief of the Alary brothers that they want to capture the old-vine fruit depth as transparently and precisely as possible. Intensely aromatic with crushed red berries and rhubarb notes, the palate is dripping with delicious dark cherry, black pepper and all kinds of spice nuances.

The vineyards of Oratoire Saint Martin are hand tended and managed organically with biodynamic preparations. The vineyards are regularly ploughed, with some plots by horse.
